Malcolm McPherson

Malcolm is head of the New Zealand office of AM Sports Tours. His knowledge of the industry and passion for soccer makes him a welcome addition to the AM Sports Tours team. Malcolm was a professional soccer player in England throughout the 1990’s, starting at Yeovil Town before moving for a record deal to Premiership side, West Ham Utd. He then went on to play for Brentford FC with loan spells at IFK Norkopping in Sweden and Dagenham & Redbridge.

After he finished playing soccer, he took a different career path by becoming a Managing Director of a Sales and Marketing Company overseeing over 50 staff in two locations in London and Bristol. In a lifestyle change he then moved to New Zealand in 2002. On arriving in the country he gained the National Coaching certifications including the International Team Coaching License and worked within the NZ Football Federation system as a Regional Coach.

He has been the first team Head Coach at Waitakere City FC and was Waitakere Utd FC’s National Youth League Head Coach from 2008-2010 working with current NZ national team players. He also works within the National Talent Centre program working with NZ’s best 14-16 year old players. Recently he became the 1st team coach of Eastern Suburbs AFC in Auckland NZ. Malcolm combines his playing/coaching background with his business acumen to offer a wide range of services within the football industry. Travel, coaching, US College athlete recruitment and event management.

Despite his love of soccer, Malcolm doesn’t support any team in particular but was admirer of Alex Ferguson for his achievements in Management.
