AM Soccer Schools - Our Philosophy

A Ball At Your Feet Improves Technique...

Our philosophy is very simple – “A ball at your feet improves technique”. We specialise in the development of young players starting from age 3 years old in a safe and fun environment. We coach young players to develop good technique and composure with the ball. We encourage them to play and express themselves in small sided games. We monitor the young players through the key stages of football development to allow them to achieve their potential.

Key points

  • In a typical 2 hour session EVERY young player, irrespective of ability, will take approximately 2500 to 3000 touches of the ball. For most of the session each player has a ball each.
  • Sessions are conducted by qualified coaches with experience in the professional game who first and foremost have a good rapport with children.
  • We monitor the progress of all children both technically and physiologically. Testing takes place 3 times per year. Each soccer school player takes 10 football related individual tests and is weighed and measured (subject to consent) on these dates. This confidential information is protected and can only be accessed by the head coaches, parents/guardians and young player. This is also recorded in their log book which is password protected online.

If they are not improving we are not doing our job.

  • We use training methods from around the world to develop technique, and, once the young player has established sound technique, use innovative coaching styles and equipment to encourage creativity and self-expression with the ball.
  • We don’t over coach and allow the young players ample time for free play to use the new skills they have learned in small sided games from 1 v 1 to 5 v 5 allowing an excellent ratio of ball : player. During this time coaches encourage and promote free play and self-expression of the young footballers.
  • We begin to educate young players in the importance of a healthy diet and hydration teaching them about its correlation with good performance.
  • We offer an International Exchange Programme allowing the young players the opportunity to train and play with young players from other countries and experience different coaching techniques. Our first joint venture took place in summer 2008 in Sweden.
